On Feb. 25, 2013 the Abrahamic Faiths Peace-making Initiative (AFPI), hosted the Executive Director of Just Vision, Ronit Avni, for a public screening and discussion of the
award-winning documentary “My Neighborhood”. One-hundred audience members came from across Southern California– spanning the area from Huntington Beach to Pasadena.
The main focus of the evening was the dire situation in East Jerusalem– where settlers are actively confiscating the homes of Palestinians in the Old City. Peace-making efforts between Israelis and Palestinians effectively stopped the accelerated expansion of settler actions for a time, however, settler efforts are now picking up steam. Global attention to the effective work on non-violence in Israel-Palestine is an essential component of helping change the situation.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the Islamic Center of Southern California, the Muslim Public Affairs Council, All Saints Church- Pasadena, Progressive Christians Uniting, and Muslims Establishing Community in America for helping to making this event a success! It was a stimulating and powerful time together.
